Sunday River Update 12/14/12

Strait from the site:
The Aurora Peak Quad officially opened today for the first time this season as Ski Patrol dropped the ropes on Northern Lights, Sensation, and Peak Easy. The addition of the 3 trails brings our total to 47 trails over 219 acres, meaning Sunday River is still the leader in most open terrain in New England! That total could increase as soon as tomorrow with more trails opening including Green Cheese, Kansas, and lower Lollapalooza for ski-out access from the Jordan Grant Hotel.

Plus, we’re looking at dropping the ropes on Dream Maker from Second Mile down, just in time for Night Skiing, which launches tomorrow night during Winterfest for only $5. Also, cross your fingers for snow on Sunday! The forecast is calling for a few inches to fall on Sunday with possibly more to come on Monday.

Snowmaking continues tonight in Starlight, Jib Park, and Rocking Chair. The terrain park crew plans on building up Starlight and the Jib Park with the goal of opening those parks by next Friday. The park on Upper Sunday Punch remains intact consisting of a mix of boxes, a snowmaking pipe, and a couple jumps.

Along with the Aurora Peak Quad and the Jordan Bowl Express, lifts scheduled to open tomorrow include the Barker Mountain Express, South Ridge Express, White Cap Quad, Spruce Mountain Triple, and the Chondola at 8 a.m. The Locke Mountain Triple, Little White Cap Quad, and the Sundance Surface Lift are scheduled for a 9 a.m. start up. Last chair is 3:30 p.m. for some lifts, 3:45 p.m. for others.

After a day on the slopes, drop into the Foggy Goggle Saturday night for the Viking God or Goddess contest--either to watch or to compete to win a Gold New England Pass for the rest of the 2012-13 season. And did we mention Santa Claus? The fireworks? It's going to be off the hook. And, for Maine residents, this Sunday is Maine Day presented by the Bank of Maine. Just show proof of residency and you'll have access to $29 lift tickets, $20 rentals, and $39 ski or ride packages.
