Sunday River Update 12/10/12

Strait from the site:
It’s always nice to have some natural snow fall to lift spirits and take a load off the hard working snowmakers. They’ll be back at it early tomorrow morning as long as temperatures drop as expected. Already with the most open terrain in New England, we now are the first to reach 200 acres! Ski Patrol dropped the ropes on Aludra, Lights Out, and Sirius this morning opening Aurora up for the first time this season.

It’s amazing to see this much open terrain with the little snow that has fallen this season, but our westward expansion must go on. The plan this week is to blow as much snow as the guns can handle. It’s only Monday, but it’s looking like we’ll be able to open the Jordan Bowl Express this weekend allowing ski-out access for hotel guests.
The Aurora Peak Quad is also on target for a weekend open just in time for Winterfest which kicks off on Friday. The Foggy Goggle is the place to be Saturday night as we tap into our Viking heritage here at Sunday River. Show up dressed in the sexiest Viking God or Goddess outfit you can put together and have a chance to win a Gold New England pass for the rest of the 2012-13 season. Winterfest is also the start of night skiing for the season. Friday night, you can ski or ride South Ridge and North Peak from 4-8 p.m. for just $5!

For those of you wondering what’s going on with our parks? Snowmaking plans for the early morning and tomorrow include building up the snow in Starlight, Rocking Chair, and the Jib Park. In the meantime, our terrain park located on Upper Sunday Punch is open and consists of 16 features! The plan is to have four terrain parks and a tubing park in South Ridge open by Christmas.
Lifts scheduled to open tomorrow morning include the Barker Mountain Express, South Ridge Express, White Cap Quad, Little White Cap Quad, Spruce Mountain Triple, the Chondola, and the Sundance Surface lift at 9 a.m. Last chair is 3:30 p.m. for some lifts, 3:45 p.m. for others. Don't forget to check the boards as you hop on for exact close times.
